CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 1, 2025) - On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted Johnson University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears fell short to the Royals with a final score of 72-54, falling to an overall record of 10-12, 7-9 AAC.

The Lady Bears found themselves on the board first with a three-pointer by
Alissa Winters. TMU continued to increase their score with a layup by
Alexis Brewster. The Royals quickly answered to the Lady Bears sharp start, eager to sway TMU's early momentum. Three pointers by Brewster and
Mahalah Stewart, paired with a layup by
Brinkley Kate Reed gave the Lady Bears hope as first half regulation came to an end with JU up by one (16-15). Stewart started the second quarter off with a made three pointer. Both teams battled with JU ultimately taking the lead for the remainder of the half, 36-26.
In the third quarter, JU continued to push ahead forcing the Lady Bears to work hard from behind (58-35). A three-pointer by Reed in the fourth quarter inspired the Lady Bears to close the large gap made by JU. Final layups by
Carsyn Ward and
Ella Ward, attempted to change the outcome of the game, but was ultimately pushed too far out of reach, falling to a final score, 72-54.
LEADERS
Brewster led the way for the Lady Bears, recording 11 points and five rebounds. Stewart followed with 10 points and three assists, while Reed tallied eight points.
Madison Aguilera and
Destinee Lovejoy each recorded seven points apiece.
