CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 1, 2025) - On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted Johnson University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears fell short to the Royals with a final score of 72-54, falling to an overall record of 10-12, 7-9 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears found themselves on the board first with a three-pointer by Alissa Winters. TMU continued to increase their score with a layup by Alexis Brewster. The Royals quickly answered to the Lady Bears sharp start, eager to sway TMU's early momentum. Three pointers by Brewster and Mahalah Stewart, paired with a layup by Brinkley Kate Reed gave the Lady Bears hope as first half regulation came to an end with JU up by one (16-15). Stewart started the second quarter off with a made three pointer. Both teams battled with JU ultimately taking the lead for the remainder of the half, 36-26.

In the third quarter, JU continued to push ahead forcing the Lady Bears to work hard from behind (58-35). A three-pointer by Reed in the fourth quarter inspired the Lady Bears to close the large gap made by JU. Final layups by Carsyn Ward and Ella Ward, attempted to change the outcome of the game, but was ultimately pushed too far out of reach, falling to a final score, 72-54.
