CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 1, 2025) - On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team hosted Benedict College for a non-conference match-up, where the Bears banded together to record the win, 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 24-16, 25-16). TMU rises to an overall record of 4-1.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Set one saw the Bears dominate from the first serve, quickly creating an eight-point gap with kills by
Alex Bosman,
Caleb Bosveld, and
Adam Shuman leading the way. TMU continued to hold their own despite a small rally by the Tigers threatening their momentum. Final kills by
Jed Bailey, Bosveld and Bosman, ultimately ended set one with a final score of 25-18. In set two, TMU continued to build off their first set high as kills by
Troy McAlister and Shuman continued to push the Bears ahead. A five-point rally by TMU once again proved the Bears as tough competitors, taking set two 25-16. Set three saw a shift in momentum for BC as the Tigers gained traction on the court. Kills by Bosman and Bosveld, kept TMU alive in match-play as BC closed the gap on the board. TMU took every opportunity made available, eager to put the match behind them, when a final five-point rally by the visiting team secured the Tigers first set win, 26-24. In the final set, TMU led the match-up early recording a nine-point rally featuring three kills by
Alex Bosman and two serving aces by
Christopher Zambrana. The Tigers fought hard, eager to stop TMU from recording a win, but ultimately could not stand in the way of the of the Bears reaching victory, 25-16.
LEADERS
Bosveld led the way for the Bears recording 20 kills. Bosman followed recording a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs, while Bailey tallied 10 kills of his own. Shuman was featured recording eight kills, nine digs, and three serving aces, while
Sam Taylor tallied 17 digs, and Zambrana had 43 assists.

TMU will host Reinhardt University on Tuesday, February 4, for the Bears Appalachian Athletic Conference opener, inside the Harris Athletic Complex. Match time set for 6:30 p.m.
