CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 4, 2025)–On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team hosted No. 12 Reinhardt University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Bears fell in a tough battle against the Eagles, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-21). TMU falls to an overall record of 4-2, 0-1 AAC.

Set one saw the Eagles first to score, with one kill. TMU fought back to stay even with the Eagles, with a kill by Adam Shuman. Both teams battled back and forth, eager to retain the lead, when a three-point rally by the Eagles, sent the visitors ahead. The Bears did not lose hope, as kills by Troy McAlister and Caleb Bosveld attempted to bridge the gap, but ultimately was not enough to overturn the set (15-25). In set two, the Bears found themselves first on the board with a service error by RU. TMU continued to work together, keeping the score close with the Eagles, when a three-point rally by RU threatened to leave the Bears behind. A quick change in momentum for the Bears saw a three-point rally, featuring two kills by Bosveld, to tie up the set. Eager to take set two, another rally by RU sent the eagles ahead. TMU continued work, but the Eagles continued to press forward, leaving the Bears behind in set two, 19-25.
In the final set, TMU was once again first on the board, taking the lead with a quick three-point rally, featuring a solo block by Adam Shuman. The Eagles continued to prove to be a tough competitor, but the Bears did not lose hope, giving it their all. Both teams continued to battle back and forth with kills by Shuman and Alex Bosman leading the way for TMU. A four-point rally by RU ultimately proved to be the difference maker in the set as the Eagles once again took the lead. A service ace by Shuman paired with a kill by Bosveld, attempted to keep the Eagles at bay, but ultimately could not bridge the gap. Final score, 21-25.
LEADERS
Bosveld and Shuman led the way for the Bears with eight kills and a serving ace a piece. Bosman followed, tallying seven kills and one serving ace, while Sam Taylor had eight digs. Christopher Zambrana was featured recording 21 assists on the evening.

The Bears will be back in action at on the road Tuesday, February 14 as they travel to compete against St. Andrews University in an AAC match-up. Match-time set for 6:00 p.m.
