No. 1 Women's Soccer advances to AAC Semifinals with 2–0 win over No. 8 Montreat

CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 30, 2025) – On Wednesday, the No. 1 seeded Truett McConnell University women's soccer team opened postseason play with a 2–0 victory over No. 8 Montreat College in the quarterfinal round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament. With the win, the Lady Bears advance to the semifinal round while improving to 18-0-1 overall.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first half saw TMU maintain steady pressure, creating multiple scoring opportunities but unable to convert early. Saige Peterson recorded the team's first shot in the 26th minute, followed by several chances from Annabel TrauschkeEmma UnterrainerGrace Montgomery, and Joanna Funes. TMU's best look came in the 43rd minute when Funes' strike hit the crossbar. Despite eight first-half shots, the match remained scoreless at the half.
 
Coming out of halftime, the Lady Bears wasted no time taking control. In the 47th minute, Isabella Hodson broke through the Montreat defense, scoring off an assist from Trauschke to put TMU on the board (1–0). The Bears continued to dominate possession, firing 16 second-half shots and earning several corners. In the 88th minute, Trauschke sealed the match with a late goal to secure the 2–0 victory and a trip to the semifinal round.
 
LEADERS
Hodson led the way with one goal, while Trauschke contributed one goal and one assist. Goalkeeper Danica Wittmann was featured earning her 10th clean sheet of the season.
 
UP NEXT
The No. 1-seeded Lady Bears advance to the AAC Tournament semifinal round, where they will host No. 4 Columbia International University inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. Kick-off set for 6:00 p.m.
