No. 1 TMU secures tickets to championship game with victory over No. 4 CIU

CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 4, 2025) – On Tuesday, the No. 1 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team earned a hard fought 3-1 victory over No. 4 Columbia International University in the semifinal round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, advancing to the championship match for the seventh consecutive season. The Lady Bears extend their win streak to 16, increasing their overall record to 18-0-1.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears and Rams traded early possessions as TMU looked to establish their attacking rhythm. In the 40th minute, TMU broke through when Isabella Hodson converted a penalty kick to give TMU a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
 
Early in the second half, TMU extended their advantage as Evangelina Seidel found the back of the net in the 59th minute off an assist from Hodson, making it 2-0. CIU responded in the 72nd minute off a penalty kick to cut the deficit in half. The Bears wasted no time answering, as just 32 seconds later, Abby Sheriff scored off another assist from Hodson to restore TMU's two-goal cushion at 3-1. From there, TMU maintained control of the match with 11 shots on goal. The Lady Bears' defense held strong to secure the win and punch their ticket to the AAC conference championship.

Hodson led the way for the Lady Bears with one goal and two assists, while Seidel and Sheriff each added a goal.

The Lady Bears will host the AAC Championship game against No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday, November 8. Kick-off set for 1 p.m. inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
