CLEVELAND, Ga. (January 29, 2025) - On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team hosted Kentucky Christian University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Bears recorded a huge overtime win against the Knights 118-113, scoring the second highest number of points in TMU Men's Basketball history. PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half TMU was first to strike with a three-point shot by Jaden Yeh. The Bears continued to push ahead with two more made three-point shots by
Raul Arias-Ortega and
EJ Smith. The Knights continued to fight back, battling the Bears to an even score. Two three-point shots ultimately pushed KCU ahead as the end of first half regulation drew near. A layup by
Omari Joseph, followed by a good free throw by
Jadon Yeh continued to shorten the gap, when a final second's layup by
RJ Bryant sent both teams tied 54-54 into the half.
The second half saw both teams once again battle for the lead. Three consecutive layups by Bryant proved capable of pushing TMU ahead. A good fast break dunk by Joseph kept momentum high as the Bears retained the lead. The Bears remained hopeful at securing the AAC win, when a last chance three-point buzzer beater by the Knights tied up the game, sending both teams into overtime (98-98). In overtime, the Bears worked together to come out on top, securing the win with a final score of 118 -113.
LEADERS
Smith led the way for the Bears recording 27 points and seven assists. Yeh was featured recording 17 points and nine rebounds, while McCray tallied 16 points and nine rebounds. Joseph recorded 15 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

TMU will be back in action on Saturday, February 1, as the Bears host AAC opponent, Johnson University, inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. Tip off set for 4:00 p.m.
