BLUEFIELD, Va. (January 25, 2025)- On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match up against Bluefield College, where the Lady Bears showed their strength to secure the win, 64-42. TMU rises to an overall record of 9-10, 6-7 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Mahalah Stewart put the fist two points on the board for the Lady Bears followed by a made three point shot. Two good free throws by Alexis Brewster gave followed by a layup by Ava Queen concluded a dominating first quarter, 21-2. A three point shot by Brinkley Kate Reed kept the lead strong to start the second quarter. Two good free throws by Brewster put the Lady Bears up 22 points over the Rams, followed by an exciting three pointer by Kayleigh Kelley to propel the Lady Bears into the half ahead, 38-16.
First half momentum continued into the third quarter as a made three pointer by Mahalah Stewart began play. Made layups by Destinee Lovejoy and Queen kept TMU control of the game. Carsyn Ward concluded the third quarter with a good jump shot of her own, 52-31. Brewster put the first points on the board for the Lady Bears in the fourth. Good three's by Stewart and Brewster increased the margin by 25 points. A final layup by Ward put the game away as the Lady Bears secured the win, 64-42.
LEADERS
Stewart led the way with 18 points, going 4-6 in three point shots. Brewster followed with 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Lovejoy tallied 10 rebounds.

The Lady Bears will be back in action inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Monday, January 27, as TMU hosts Brenau University for an AAC matchup. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
