COLUMBIA, S.C. (January 23, 2025) - On Thursday, the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Columbia College, where the Bears proved to be the top competitor securing the win, 76-73. TMU falls to an overall record of 8-9, 5-6 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, the Koalas were first to take the lead forcing TMU to work hard from behind early. A layup by RJ Bryant, paired with a good jump shot by Raul Arias Ortega, kept the Bears within a short distance of overturning the lead. Both team's battles as layups by Myles McCrary and Omari Joseph, paired with a good three-pointer by Arias-Ortega continued to add to the Bears score. A final three-pointer by Arias Ortega sent the Bears into halftime as TMU trailed by one (36-35).

The second half saw the Bears find the lead as back-to-back layups by EJ Smith propelled the Bears ahead. Both teams continued to battle once more eager to finish on top. Final made free throws by Smith and McCrary ultimately sealed the deal on a hard fought TMU road win, 76-73. 

LEADERS
Smith led the way recording an impressive 29 points. Arias-Ortega followed with 20 points, while McCrary had 12 points and seven rebounds. Jadon Yeh recorded four assists and seven rebounds, respectfully.

The Bears will travel to Bluefield University on Saturday, January 25 for an AAC matchup. Tip-off set for 4:00pm.
