Bears record shut-out win at TWU

ATHENS, Tenn. (September 14, 2024) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to compete against Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Tennessee Wesleyan University, where the Bears showed their grit securing a 3-0 shut-out win against the Bulldogs. TMU rises to a record of 4-0-2, 2-0-1 AAC, while TWU falls to a record of 1-2-2, 0-1-2 AAC,
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, TWU was first to make a move with a shot on goal saved by keeper Euan Brindley. TMU responded with two shots of their own eager to make their mark on the board when finally, in the 32nd minute a foul by the opposing team offered Oscar Brennan a penalty kick shot resulting in the first goal of the day (1-0). TMU found luck once more in the first half as a goal by Roman Reynolds, assisted by Pablo Farrona, found its way into the net, 2-0. TMU scored their final goal of the game in the second half as an unassisted goal by Jose Ventura capped off the Bears shut-out win over the Bulldogs, 3-0.
 
LEADERS
Ventura led the way for the Bears with one goal and two shots, all on goal. Reynolds and Brennan followed with one goal apiece, while Farrona tallied one assist. 
 
UP NEXT 
TMU will be back in action at home on Wednesday, September 18 as they host Columbia College for an AAC match-up inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. Match time set for 4:00 p.m.
