LAKELAND, Fla. (August 31, 2024) - The No. 14 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team traveled to compete in an NAIA showdown on Saturday against No. 20 Southeastern, where both teams played sharp for the entire regulation forcing the game to result in a draw (1-1). 

The Lady Bears proved a worthy competitor as they scored the first goal of the day in the first 10 minutes of play after a shot by Ashley Johnson found the back of the net (1-0) in penalty kick fashion. The Fire repatriated with multiple shots of their own, along with earning four corner kicks in the first half and six corner kicks in the second half. TMU stayed unified on defense to keep the lead for majority of the game, until a ball from the home team evened the score late in the second half (1-1). Final efforts from the Lady Bears saw a shot from Johnson and a corner kick by Peyton Brooks not enough as the final score remained 1-1.
