CLEVELAND, Ga. (August 21, 2024) - The No. 13 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team opened their season on Wednesday against Faulkner University, where the Lady Bears gave no remorse as they took down the Eagles with a dominating score of 6-0. In total, TMU outshot Faulkner 24-8, with 11 shots on goal.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears wasted no time as they took multiple shots within the first seven minutes of play, sparked by a blocked shot and post shot from Nela Sechterova and topped off by a Megan Darden shot wide. The 11th minute of play saw TMU hit the board after a ball crossed from the right side by Lindsey Fowler found the foot of Ashley Johnson in the box (1-0). It was only up from there for TMU, as junior Annabel Trauschke, in her debut as a Lady Bear, recorded a goal of her own before the half (2-0).
Johnson set the pace for the remaining 45 minutes of regulation with a sharp shot from outside the box that found the back of the net (3-0), followed by a tag team goal off the foot of Ruffa Meger, assisted by Fowler. Kendra Wilbert took a chance off a ball passed up the middle by Eva Seidel to score the fifth goal of the game for TMU, while Amayia Lukie topped off the final minutes of play with a picture perfect shot to add a sixth goal for the home team, assisted by Seidel (6-0).
