GEORGETOWN, Ky. (April 3, 2024) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Georgetown College, where the Lady Bears fell in a hard-fought battle against the Tigers, 18-8. TMU falls to an overall record of 2-9, 0-3 AAC, while GC rises to a record of 5-9, 3-1 AAC.

In the first quarter, GC was first on the board with two goals, forcing a quick response from TMU with a goal by
Kaitlyn Morgenroth, assisted by
Shelby Nail (2-1). The Tigers went on to score four more goals, creating a marginal gap between the two teams as they entered the second quarter. The second quarter saw five consecutive goals by GC, eager to increase the gap. TMU was not shaken as an unassisted goal by
Marlo McBrayer, kept TMU in the game as they entered the half (11-2).

The third quarter saw a shift in momentum for the Lady Bears as three goals, one by McBrayer and two by Nail, found their way into the net (11-5). Three more goals by the opposing team continued to prove GC as a tough competitor, leaving TMU to work together to decrease the deficit in the final quarter (14-5). The fourth quarter saw the Lady Bears working hard on both ends of the field, holding the Tigers to three goals, and scoring two of their own, one a piece by Morgenroth and McBrayer (18-7). A final last chance goal by
Maddie Donnelly, attempted to reverse GC's strong first half, but was ultimately unsuccessfully, falling to a final score of 18-8.

LEADERS
McBrayer led the way for TMU, scoring three goals, taking seven shots with four on goal. Morgenroth followed with two goals and six shots, three on goal, while Nail had two goals, one assist, five shots and seven ground balls. Donnelly had one goal, while goalie
Sally Marcum recorded 18 saves on the evening.
