TMU suffers tough loss at home

CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 20, 2024) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team hosted (RV) Reinhardt University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Bears fell in a tough battle against the Eagles, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-12). TMU falls to an overall record of 4-9, 0-5 AAC, while RU rises to a record of 6-1, 4-1 AAC.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Set one saw the Eagles first to score, with two consecutive kills. TMU fought back to stay even with the Eagles, with a kill by Alex Bosman. Both teams battled back and forth, eager to retain the lead, when a three-point rally by the Eagles, sent the visitors ahead. The Bears did not lose hop, as kills by Caleb Bosveld and Bosman attempted to bridge the gap, but was ultimately not enough to overturn the set, falling 19-25. In set two, the Bears found themselves first on the board with a kill by Adam Shuman. TMU continued to work together, keeping the score close with the Eagles, when a three-point rally by RU threatened to leave them behind. A quick change in momentum for the Bears saw a four-point rally, featuring solo blocks by Bosman and Bosveld, tie up the set. Eager to take set two, another three-point rally by TMU sent the bears ahead. TMU continued to have hope in taking set two, when an eight-point rally by the Eagles, disrupted the Bears marginal lead, leaving the Bears behind in set two, 17-25.
 
In the final set, RU was once again first on the board, taking the lead. The Eagles continued to prove to be a tough competitor, leaving TMU behind early. Kills by Bosman and Bosveld worked to reconcile the difference, eager to change the outcome of the game, but was ultimately unable to bridge the early gap set by the Eagles, falling in three sets, 12-25.
 
LEADERS
Bosman led the way for the Bears with nine kills and one solo block. Bosveld followed, tallying seven kills and two solo blocks, while Shuman had two kills and one block. Wensky Saintilmond was featured recording 19 assists on the evening.
 
UP NEXT
The Bears will be back in action at home on Tuesday, February 27 as they host Life University for an AAC match-up, inside the Harris Athletic Complex. Match-time set for 7:00 p.m.
