MARIETTA, Ga. (November 12, 2024) - On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to compete in a non-conference match-up against Life University, where the Lady Bears fell to a loss of 55-46. TMU falls to an overall record of 1-3, while Life rises to a record of 3-2.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, LU was first on the board creating an early lead over the Lady Bears. TMU responded with a layup by Destinee Lovejoy followed by a free throw by Alexis Brewster. The Running Eagles quickly took control of the game finishing the quarter with a score of 16-5. In the second quarter, TMU found their rhythm with a three pointer by Madison Aguilera and a layup by Kayleigh Kelley leading the way. A three pointer by Brinkley Kate Reed paired with a jump shot by Jordynn Webster ultimately decreased the gap to six as both teams entered the half with a score of 32-26.Â
The third quarter saw both teams work hard on defense leaving little room for both the Lady Bears and Running Eagles to capitalize on offense. In the fourth quarter the Lady Bears put up a fight as back-to-back layups by Brewster, paired with a three-pointer by Aguilera kept TMU in the game. A last chance effort by the Lady Bears featuring two good free throws by Reed and a layup by Lovejoy, attempted to change the outcome of the game, but was ultimately not enough falling to a final score of 55-46.
LEADERS
Brewster led the way for TMU recording a double-double, featuring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Kelley and Aguilera followed with eight points, while Reed had six points and Lovejoy had seven rebounds.Â
