No. 24 TMU extends win streak to six with win over Brenau

CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 7, 2024) - The No. 24 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Brenau University on Monday, where the Lady Bears took care of business to steal the win with a score of 4-2. TMU is currently sitting at an overall record of 9-1-2, 8-0-1 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

TMU worked quick in the first half, finding the back of the net in the third minute of play after a ball from Brianna Hernandez offered Eliska Dvorakova the opportunity she needed (1-0). The Lady Bears continued to take shots at goal, but it wasn't until the 35th minute of play that a deflected save by the visiting team's keeper saw Evagelina Seidel score for TMU. In the second half, the Golden Tigers fought back with a goal of their own, but a ball from Ashley Johnson kept the home team with the advantage. In the 76th minute excellent foot work from Amayia Lukie, assisted by Lindsey Fowler proved the Lady Bears final move, while Brenau made one more move of their own in the 86th minute, ultimately not enough as the game resulted in a score of 4-2.

LEADERS

Johnson led the way with one goal and four shots, three on goal. Seidel, Dvorakova and Lukie tallied on goal apiece, while Fowler and Hernandez had one assist apiece and Isabella Hodson had five shots on goal.
