No. 24 Lady Bears collect huge win over Rams, records 12 goals

CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 5, 2024) - The No. 24 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Bluefield University on Saturday, where the Lady Bears showed out in dominating fashion to secure the win with a score of 12-0. TMU is currently sitting at an overall record of 8-1-2, 7-0-1 AAC. 
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first half was exciting from the start for the Lady Bears as the first goal of the game was scored by Isabella Hodson, assisted by Lindsey Fowler in the fifth minute of play. The eighth minute saw more action from the home team as midfielder Megan Darden found the back of the net, followed by Ashley Johnson who scored in the 11th minute, assisted by Eliska Dvorakova. Hodson continued to score two more goals, while Fowler, Dvorakova, Erin Ward and Kahlen Watters tallied one goal apiece. The second half saw three more goals by the Lady Bears. The first goal of the half was off the foot of Annabel Trauschke, followed by two back-to-back goals from Amayia Lukie both assisted by Marisol Esparza 12-0. 
 
LEADERS
Most notable, the Lash Bears took a total of 34 shots, 19 on goal, while allowing Bluefield zero shots at the net. 
 
Johnson led the way with one goal, two assists and six shots, five on goal. Hodson recorded a hat trick of three goals, while Dvorakova recorded one goal, two assists and five shots. Lukie tallied two goals, followed by Trauschke who had one goal and two assists. 
 
UP NEXT 
The Lady Bears are back in action on Monday, October 7, where they are set to face AAC competitor Brenau University at 7:00 p.m., inside the TMU Soccer Complex.
