WALESKA, Ga. (October 2, 2024) - The No. 24 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown on Wednesday at Reinhardt University, where a strong second half proved in favor of the Lady Bears as they secured the win with a score of 2-0. TMU is currently sitting at an overall record of 7-1-2, 2-1-2 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first half saw both teams fight at goal, with the Lady Bears taking five shots and the Eagles taking four shots. Shots from Isabella Hodson and Eliska Dcorakova made a move for TMU, while two corner kicks from Ruffa Meger and a shot from Ashley Johnson closed the half for the Lady Bears.
The second half proved in favor of TMU with the first goal of the day taking place in the 64th minute after a ball from Dvorakova set the stage for a fateful shot from Johnson that found the back of the net (1-0). The Lady Bears gained speed as they took more shots, while a ball by Amayia Lukie, assisted by Lindsey Fowler gave TMU the advantage they needed to put the game out of reach with a final score of 2-0.
LEADERS
Johnson led the way with one goal and three shots, followed by Dvorakova recorded three shots on goal and one assist. Lukie tallied one goal, Fowler tallied one assist and keeper Emelie Taylor recorded four crucial saves in the night.
