Bears soar past Eagles to secure AAC win

WALESKA, Ga. (October 2, 2024) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Reinhardt University, where the Bears came together to secure the 4-2 win over the Eagles. TMU rises to an overall record of 6-3-2, 4-2-1 AAC, while RU falls to a record of 4-4-2, 2-2-1 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, the Bears were quick to strike with a shot by Nils Waltemode. TMU continued to work hard offensively when a shot by Jose Ventura, from a corner kick by Oscar Brennan, found the back of the net to secure the first goal of the evening (1-0). Both teams continued the battle into the second half with the Bears first to move taking a shot on goal by Waltemode. Eager to increase the lead, a good ball by Max Farris in the 51st minute gave Pablo Farrona space to score, advancing the Bears lead 2-0. Working from behind, the Eagles managed to score back-to-back goals of their own in an attempt to overwhelm the Bears (2-0), but TMU was not shaken scoring two more goals of their own by Farrona and Waltemode (Marco Mandelka), capping off a stellar victory, 4-2.

LEADERS
Farrona led the way for TMU with two goals and three shots, all on goal. Waltemode followed with one goal and four shots, while Ventura had one goal. Brennan, Farris, and Mandelka recorded one assist a piece. Keeper Euan Brindley was featured recording five saves on the evening.
