CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 12, 2024) - On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Columbia College and non-conference opponent Life University for a home tri-match, where the Bears were featured sweeping the Koalas, 3-0 (25-23. 25-23, 25-20), and defeating the Running Eagles, 3-1 (16-25, 25-14, 25-22, 27-25). TMU rises to an overall record of 10-11, 7-4 AAC.

In set one the Lady Bears were first to score with a kill by
Faith Clarkson. The Koalas quick response was short lived as the Lady Bears produced a five-point rally, featuring kills by
Katie Williams and Clarkson. Both teams continued to battle it out with CC scoring a five-point rally, but the Lady Bears were not discouraged, creating an eight-point rally of their own with kills by Clarkson,
Elizabeth Franklin and
Sameily Marquez. A last chance effort by the visiting team attempted to take control of the set, but was ultimately no match for TMU, 25-23. Set two saw TMU take an early lead with a six-point rally by the Lady Bears. A six-point rally by the Koalas attempted to catch TMU in a tough position but proved to be no contest as two final kills by Franklin decided the sets fate (25-23). In the final set, TMU recorded 13 kills compared to the six kills by CC. Despite the late burst of momentum by the opposing team, TMU continued to push ahead as a solo block by Franklin gave the Lady Bears the sweep, 25-20.

Franklin led the way for the Lady Bears with 11 kills and six solo blocks.
Jordan Roberts followed with 10 kills and one solo block, while Marquez contributed seven kills.
Emma Boland recorded 24 assists while
Deomi Valmus had 12 digs.

TMU 3 – Life 1
In set one, the Running Eagles took a hold of the set with two early rallies. TMU banded together to disrupt LU momentum with kills by Franklin, Clarkson and Roberts, but was shortly proven out matched, falling in set one 25-16. Set two saw the Lady Bears bounce back putting the first point on the board with a kill by Clarkson. Both teams battled for the lead, when a nine-point rally by TMU ultimately pushed the Lady Bears ahead by 11. A final kill by Franklin ultimately gave the Lady Bears what was needed to take set two, 25-14. In set three, the Lady Bears gave it their all using each other to work together and take the set win, featuring five kills by Marquez and two kills by Clarkson Williams a piece (25-22). In the final set, both teams remained even for the majority of the set when a four-point rally by the Lady Bears pushed TMU ahead. A last chance effort by LU attempted to overwhelm TMU's lead, but was not enough take away from a Lady Bears win in set four (27-25).

Marquez led the way for TMU with 15 kills. Clarkson followed with 10 kills and three block assists, while Williams tallied seven kills and two serving aces. Franklin was seen recording three block assists while Roberts tallied two solo blocks. Boland was featured recording 26 assist and two serving aces, while Valmus contributed 14 digs.Â
