WALESKA, Ga. (January 10, 2023) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Reinhardt University, where the Lady Bears fell in a tough battle against the Eagles, 72-39. TMU falls to an overall record of 4-12, 4-7 AAC, while RU rises to a record of 15-0, 11-0 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, TMU was first to score with two good free throws by
Alexis Brewster. The Eagles quickly responded with baskets of their own, taking an early lead over the Lady Bears. Forced to work from behind,
Alysee Dobbs finally found a good layup to make the score 4-17 as both teams entered the second quarter. The second quarter saw the Bears up first once again, with a three-pointer by
Brinkley Kate Reed and a good free throw by
Destinee Lovejoy. RU responded with 10 points of their own as the Eagles worked to increase the gap. The Lady Bears did not lose heart as a layup, free throw and jump shot by Dobbs worked to decrease the Eagles lead, entering the half with a score of 17-33.

The third quarter saw the Eagles eager to grow their lead as they put 15 more points on the board. Free throws by Brewster, Lovejoy, and
Sydnie Smith, paired with layups by
Ava Queen and
Kayleigh Kelley, attempted to bridge the gap, but were ultimately unsuccessful as the Bears fell behind by 31 points, entering the fourth quarter 28-59. In the final quarter, TMU worked to put 10 more points on the board, when a final free throw by Lovejoy proved to be the Lady Bears last hope, leaving TMU to fall 39-72.

LEADERS
Dobbs led the way for TMU with nine points and five rebounds. Lovejoy followed with seven points and four rebounds, while Queen and Reed contributed five points apiece.
