CLEVELAND, Ga. (September 30, 2023) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's soccer team gave their all in an Appalachian Athletic Conference battle against St. Andrews University, where both teams proved evenly matched as the game concluded in a draw 0-0. The Bears are now sitting at an overall record of 4-2-2, 2-2-2 AAC, while the Knights sit at an overall record of 3-2-2, 2-1-2 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, the Bears had an early start with a corner kick in the first 10 minutes of play, while the Knights did not hesitate to respond as they took shots at goal. St. Andrews continued to take chances at stealing the lead, but keeper
Aleksa Lukic showed his grit by eliminating any opportunity for the Knights to hit the board (0-0). The second half saw the same speed form both teams as the lead was still up for grabs, while TMU made their presence known on offense with shots by
Max Farris and
Oscar Brennan.
Maury Ibarra came in hot with a shot on goal, followed by
Hendrik Metje who headed a ball just wide. St. Andrews was capable of taking shots in the final minutes, but a stout TMU defense kept the Knights at bay, resulting in a final score of 0-0.

LEADERS
Brennan, Ibarra and Will Fraser-Gay individually recorded one shot on goal, while Metje and Farris recorded one shot apiece. Lukic had another stellar performance in goal as he tallied a total of seven saves on the day.
