GAINESVILLE, Ga. (September 27, 2023) - The No. 21 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor Brenau University on Wednesday, where the Lady Bears continued to shine as they secured the win with a final score of 2-0. TMU increases their record to 6-2-2, and remain perfect in AAC play with a record of 6-0.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears outshot the home team in the first half 10-4. Julia Bosch and Ximena Solis Zagarra were first to take a chance at the goal, while two shot from Kristin Beasely continued to add pressure to the Golden Tigers defense. Shots on goal by Julia Ruiz and Marisol Esparza added to the action, followed by two shots from Eliska Dvorakova which closed out the half as the score remained 0-0.
The second half saw TMU waste no time as a perfect shot by Ashley Johnson within one minute of play found the back of the net after a ball from Beasely set the stage, making the score 1-0. The Lady Bears immediately added to their lead in the 48th minute with a shot on goal by Nadiia Ivanchenko that proved successful as the score increased 2-0. TMU stayed sharp for the reminder of the game, allowing Brenau zero chances at the goal, along with tallying a total of eight shots of their own as they clinched their sixth straight AAC victory.
LEADERS
Johnson led the way offensively with two shots on goal and a single goal, while Ivanchenko recorded a goal of her own. Bosch had three shots on goal, followed by Dvorakova who had two shots and Beasely who had two shots and a single assist.
