BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (September 23, 2023) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's soccer team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up hosted by Union College, where the No. 22 Lady Bears out shot the home team 24-2 to best the Bulldogs 3-1. TMU advances their overall record 5-2-2, 5-0 AAC, while Union falls to a record of 2-5, 2-3 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, TMU was first to attack with shots from Julia Bosh and
Eliska Dvorakova. The Lady Bears continued to move forward, taking back-to-back shots by
Julia Ruiz and Dvorakova. In the 24
th minute, Ruiz connected with the back of the net, scoring the first goal of the day for TMU, assisted by Dvorakova (1-0). The Lady Bears continued to control the field, holding the Bulldogs to zero shots, while the 40
th minute saw Dvorakova put TMU ahead 2-0 at halftime.

The second half saw the Lady Bears make the first move once again, featuring three shots from Amaya Lukie,
Brianna Hernandez and
Nadiia Ivanchenko. TMU continued to increase the lead as a penalty kick goal by Ivanchenko put the Lady Bears ahead by three (3-0). A last chance effort by UC in the 69
th minute put the home team on the board,  but wasn't enough to stop the Lady Bears from taking the win, ending the game with a final score, 3-1.

LEADERS
Ivanchenko led the way with one goal and six shots, three on goal. Dvorakova followed with one goal, four shots and one assist, while Ruiz had one goal and two shots. Bosch and Hernandez recorded two shots apiece, while

Ashley Johnson,
Ruffa Meger,
Kristin Beasley and Amaya Lukie all had one shot each.
