BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (September 23, 2023) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against No. 21 Union College, where the Bears put up a fight but were ultimately unable to come out on top, falling to a final score of 4-0. TMU falls to an overall record of 4-2-1, 2-2-1 AAC, while Union rises to a record of 8-0, 4-0 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bears were first to act at the start with an earned corner kick off the foot of Jez Walker-Paterson in the first minute of regulation. A header shot by Jose Ventura attempted to put TMU in position, while keeper Aleksa Lukic saved back-to-back shots in the 29th minute. Both teams remained evenly matched until a goal by the Bulldogs in the 42nd minute, sending the game into the half with TMU down by one(0-1).
The second half saw UC first to move, featuring a goal in the 46th minute (0-2), but TMU continued to work hard, recording two shots from Ventura and one shot from Hendrik Metje. The Bears ultimately were unable to bridge the gap as the Bulldogs scored two more goals, leaving the TMU behind, 0-4.
LEADERS
Ventura led the way taking four shots, while Oscar Brennan followed taking two shots. Ogi Vrkic, Lucan Yates and Metje recorded one shot apiece. Keeper Lukic recorded six saves on the day.

The Bears will be back in action at home on Saturday, September 30, for an AAC match-up against St. Andrews University, inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. Kickoff set for 2:00 p.m.
