LAURINBURG, N.C (March 11, 2023) - On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team traveled to St. Andrews University to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup. The Lady Bears played aggressive all four quarters as they recorded their first win of the season, defeating the Knights 9-5.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, the Lady Bears were first on the board with two goals by Gracie Wilber and Marlo McBrayer to take an early lead over the Knights. In the second quarter, three more goals by Shelby Nail, McBrayor and Katie Smith held the Lady Bears lead by one heading into the half. (5-4)
In the third quarter, keeping the momentum, Nail scored two more goals as McBrayer scored one, increasing the gap from the Knights (8-4). In the final quarter, one more goal by McBrayer sealed the deal for the Lady Bears win, as they took down the Knights with a final score of 9-5.
LEADERS
McBrayer led the way with four goals, taking nine shots, seven on goal, and one ground ball. Nail followed with three goals, taking eight shots, with six on goal and one ground ball. Smith and Wilber each had one goal, with Wilber taking four shots, two on goal, and Smith taking two shots with all on goal.Â

The Lady Bears will be back in action at home on Saturday, March 18, as they face AAC foe Reinhardt University inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. Game time set for 12:00 p.m.
