BROOKHAVEN, Ga. (February 7, 2023) – The Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team traveled on Tuesday to face Oglethorpe University for their 2023 season opener. The Lady Bears fought hard but ultimately fell to a loss of 23-1.

The first quarter saw Oglethorpe attack hard offensively, putting up 12 points. Oglethorpe continued to press forward and put up six more points, forcing the Lady Bears to work hard from behind.

In the third quarter the Lady Bears worked hard on defense holding the Stormy Petrels to only two goals (20-0). The fourth quarter saw freshman
Shelby Nail respond to Oglethorpe's first goal of the quarter with one of her own, putting the Lady Bears on the board, 21-1. The Lady Bears played with heart, ultimately suffering to a final score of 23-1.

Nail led the way with one goal, along with taking three shots with one on goal, and one groundball.
Marlo McBrayer followed with one shot on goal and two groundballs, while
Madison Franklin had one shot and one ground ball. Goalkeeper
Mackenzie Tyler had five saves on the day.

The Lady Bears host their home opener on Saturday, February 11, where they are set to face Webber International University at 1:00 p.m., inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
