CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 4, 2023) - The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Columbia College, where the Lady Bears suffered 45-59 loss. TMU falls to a record of 6-16, 5-14 AAC, while the Koalas rise to 7-14, 5-13 AAC.

The Lady Bears were first on the board with a shot behind the three-point arc from Alysee Dobbs. The Fighting Koalas responded with multiple shots to recapture the lead, but a layup and shot in the paint from Sydnie Smith left TMU trailing by three (7-10). In the second quarter, a tip-in from Dobbs and layup from Camilla Callihan cut the deficit to one. The Koalas were quick to steal the lead and create a large deficit, while a layup from Jordyn Wilder and Chloe Williams sent TMU into the half (22-26).

In the third quarter, a tip-in from Kacie Williams paired with a free throw cut the Koalas lead to one. Multiple shots from the Koalas propelled them ahead as the Bears struggled to respond. A shot behind the three-point arc from Callihan and a free throw from Quan Holton sent the Lady Bears into the final quarter (32-39). In the fourth quarter, TMU saw a layup from Holton combined with shots in the paint from Callihan to chip at the deficit. A shot in the paint from Dobbs was the Lady Bears final hope, leaving them to fall, 45-59.

LEADERS
Callihan led the way with 16 points, going 6-16 in the paint and 3-5 at the free-throw line. Dobbs followed with eight points, going 1-3 behind the three-point arc with 10 rebounds. Holton recorded eight points, going 3-4 in the paint and 2-3 at the free-throw line.Â
