Men's volleyball suffers first conference loss

CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 4, 2023) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent St. Andrews University, inside the Harris Athletic Complex. The Bears fell short in three hard-fought sets (17-25, 17-25, 21-25), now sitting at a record of 1-2, 0-1 AAC, while the Knights rise to 2-1, 1-0 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
Both teams were evenly matched at the start, while a kill from Nathan Hill brought TMU within one point of the Knights. A four-point rally from the Knights left TMU behind, but  kills from Alex Bosman and Jackson Adams worked to chip at the deficit. A three-point rally from the Bears included kills from Kyle Gregory and Wensky Saintilmond to cut the lead to three. The Knights responded with a five-point rally of their own, while a kill from Saintilmond proved the Bears' final hope in set one (17-25). In the second set, the Bears were first on the board with kills from Bosman and Adams. A late rally from the Knights propelled SAU forward, but kills from Bosman and Shuman cut the margin to two. TMU saw a kill from Hill that proved not enough as the Bears fell, 17-25. In the final set, both teams were neck-and-neck after kills from Gregory. A three-point rally from the Bears tied the set, while a kill from Bosman sparked TMU's momentum. A late six-point rally from the Knights forced TMU to work from behind, but a three-point rally from the Bears included kills from Adams provided hope. A final kill from Bosman could not turn the tide, leaving TMU to fall (21-25).

LEADERS
Bosman led the way with six kills and two blocks, while Shuman recorded four kills. Gregory was seen with four kills and two blocks. Hill tallied nine digs, followed by Saintilmond and Jakob Lee with six digs apiece.
