BLUEFIELD, Va. (October 7, 2023) - The No. 20 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team made the journey to Bluefield University on Saturday for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup, where the Lady Bears could not be stopped as they took down the Rams 7-0. TMU is now sitting at an overall record of 8-2-3, 8-0-1 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Within the first minute of play, the Lady Bears hit the board with a stellar shot by Kayla Boggess, assisted by Eliska Dvorakova. TMU stayed hot by taking multiple shots, capable of finding the back of the net once again in the 15th minute off the foot of Sarah Currey, assisted by Boggess and Annabel Kesinger. Boggess gained speed in the 18th minute as she recorded her second goal of the day with help from Isabelle Hodson and Dvorakova.
Ashley Johnson kept the pace at the start of the second half for TMU as she added to the score off a perfect ball from Nadiia Ivanchenko. The Lady Bears wasted no time to increase the lead as Ivanchenko recorded a goal of her own, followed by individual goals from Julia Bosch and Erin Ward. TMU stayed sharp on defense as they allowed the Rams zero chances at goal, securing the win with a final score of 7-0.
LEADERS
Boggess led the way for the Lady Bears with two goals, three shots and a single assist, while Ivanchenko recorded a single goal and two assists. Dvorakova had two assists on the day, followed by Bosch, Currey, Ward and Johnson who individually recorded one goal.
