COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 6, 2023) – On Friday, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Columbia International University, where the Lady Bears played with heart, but were unable to secure the win, 0-3 (14-25, 7-25, 17-25). TMU falls to an overall record of 15-8, 8-3 AAC, while CIU rises to an overall record of 20-0, 11-0 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first set, a four-point rally by the Lady Bears got the match started, with kills by
Katie Williams and
Faith Clarkson, paired with a service ace by
Rylee Simpson. The set remained evenly matched, with kills by Clarkson and
Jordan Roberts, keeping TMU in the game, until an eight-point rally by CIU left the Lady Bears behind. Two kills by
Ranavia Neal attempted to take back the set for the Lady Bears but was ultimately not enough, falling in set one, 14-25. The second set saw an early lead by the Rams. Kills by Williams and Roberts aimed to decrease the scoring deficit, but a seven-point rally by CIU furthered the Rams lead, taking set two, 7-25.
The final set saw a change from the Lady Bears as kills by Williams, Roberts and
Sonya Silecky, kept the set evenly matched. TMU continued to contend for the lead, until two final three-point rallies by CIU pushed the Rams ahead, as the Lady Bears fell in set three, 17-25.
LEADERS
Williams led the way for TMU with nine kills and a block assist. Roberts followed with five kills and one block assists, while Neal had two kills and a solo block. Silecky and Clarkson both recorded two kills each, while Simpson had 15 assists.

The Lady Bears will travel to Columbia College on Saturday, October 7, to compete in an AAC match-up. Match time set for 11:00 a.m.
