No. 20 Lady Bears prove evenly matched with (RV) Reinhardt

CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 4, 2023) – On Wednesday, the No. 20 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team hosted Reinhardt University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears worked hard offensively, outshooting the Eagles 16-4, but were ultimately unable to connect with the net as they recorded a draw (0-0). TMU sits at an overall record of 7-2-3, 7-0-1 AAC, while RU sits at an overall record of 6-4-1, 6-0-1 AAC.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, the Eagles were quick to act with a shot saved by keeper Emelie Taylor. The Lady Bears quickly responded with shots by Kristin Beasley, Ashley Johnson, and two from Eliska Dvorakova. TMU continued to work hard offensively taking five more shots but were ultimately unable to connect to the back of the net. 
 
The second half saw Brianna Hernandez take the first chance at the goal, while shots by Lyndsey Darden and Nadiia Ivanchenko continued to put pressure on the visitors. Three more shots by Marisol Esparza, Dvorakova and Johnson put the Lady Bears in scoring position but was unsuccessful as RU fought defensively. The final minute of regulation saw a shot by Chrissy Mitchell but was ultimately not enough as both teams were unable to pull ahead, 0-0.
 
LEADERS
Dvorakova led the way for TMU with four shots, two on goal, while Johnson, Hernandez, Mitchell and Ivanchenko followed with two shots apiece. Darden, Beasley and Esparza individually recorded one shot, while keeper Taylor saved three of the four shots faced, respectfully.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Bears will travel to Bluefield University on Saturday, October 7, to take on the Rams in an AAC match-up. Kickoff set for 12:00 p.m.
