CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 3, 2023) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hosted Brenau University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears took down the Golden Tigers with a final match score of 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-21). TMU rises to an overall record of 15-7, 8-2 AAC, while BU falls to a record of 6-11, 5-5 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In set one, TMU was first on the board with a block assist by
Jordan Roberts and
Faith Clarkson. BU quickly responded with action of their own, keeping the set evenly matched. The Lady Bears kept a steady leave over the Golden Tigers, until a five-point rally, featuring kills by Clarkson,
Sonya Silecky and
Ranavia Neal, paired with a service ace from
Deomi Valmus, sent TMU ahead by eight. The momentum continued to carry when a final block assist by Roberts and
Katie Williams, gave TMU the first set, 25-15. In the second set, TMU was once again first to move with a kill by Roberts. The Golden Tigers did not let up until a four-point rally by the Lady Bears, featuring kills from Williams and Silecky, and a solo block by Roberts, gave TMU hope to push on. A last chance five-point rally by BU, put the visitors in position to take the lead, until a final kill by Neal stole the set, 25-23.

In the final set, the Golden Tigers were first to attack, but the Lady Bears were not shaken. The stayed evenly matched, until a five-point rally by BU, sent them ahead. TMU did not lose heart, as back-to-back kills by Williams and Neal put the Lady Bears in winning position. A final kill by Roberts gave the home team what was needed to take set three, in sweeping fashion, 25-21.

LEADERS
Neal led the way for the Lady Bears, with 14 kills and one block assist. Williams followed with 13 kills and one block assist. Roberts recorded nine kills, one solo block, and two block assists, while Silecky recorded four kills and 12 digs. Valmus and
Rachel Kessler each recorded two services aces while
Rylee Simpson recorded 37 assists on the evening.
