Women's volleyball concludes home play against Milligan

CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 27, 2023) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team concluded home play on Saturday, where they hosted Milligan University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, resulting in a 3-0 loss in favor of the Buffs. The Lady Bears are now sitting at an overall record of 22-10, 14-5 AAC, while Milligan sits at an overall record of 23-6, 17-2 AAC.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
TMU took an early lead with a Katie Williams kill and two Buff errors. Milligan responded with a strong run to get ahead by one 5-6, but a Jordan Roberts kill and Macy Boggs service ace put the Lady Bears back on top 10-8. Both teams were neck and neck for the remainder of the set, until the Buffs pulled ahead with a final score of 20-25. In the second set TMU was first to hit the board again with a Deomi Valmus service ace and a kill by Williams. Milligan gained speed as they earned a dominating lead, but kills by Sonya Silecky and Ranavia Neal kept the Lady Bears in the game. TMU continued to work to bridge the gap with kills by Neal and Williams, but the game was ultimately out of reach with a score of 9-25. The third set saw the Buffs hit the board with two points, while the Lady Bears had a strong four-point run featuring a kill by Faith Clarkson and Neal. Milligan responded with points of their own, but TMU added to their score after a kill by Roberts and Silecky. The score remained close with two final kills from Neal, but the Buffs remained on top with a score of 20-25.
 
LEADERS
Williams led the way with eight kills, while Neal tallied seven kills and Roberts tallied six kills. Silecky recorded five kills and 20 digs, followed by Valmus who had 12 assists and Emma Boland who had nine assists.

The Lady Bears hit the road for their final regular season match-up of the season at Brenau University on Tuesday, October 31. Match time set for 6:30 p.m.
