CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 21, 2023) – The No. 20 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team wasted no time as they secured their fifth straight shutout Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over Montreat College, with a final dominating score of 5-0, inside the TMU Soccer Complex. The Lady Bears increased their record to 13-2-2, 12-0-1 AAC, while the Cavaliers fell to an overall record of 9-5, 8-4 AAC.

The first half saw both teams evenly matched, with TMU capable of tallying three shots as they made their way towards the goal. It wasn't until the 32
nd minute of play that a cross from
Ashley Johnson offered
Eliska Dvorakova the perfect shot in the box for the Lady Bears to steal the lead with a score of 1-0. A shot from Johnson and
Brianna Hernandez continued to keep the Cavaliers on their toes as the half ended with TMU up by one.

The second half proved game changing for TMU as a goal from
Ruffa Meger, assisted by Dvorakova increased the gap, followed by a shot off the foot of Dvorakova from Meger to make the score 3-0. Montreat worked under pressure for the reminader of the game, while the Lady Bears added a fourth goal in the 44
th minute by Dvorakova and sealed the deal with 17 seconds left on the clock with a picture-perfect shot from
Sarah Currey to make the score 5-0.

LEADERS
Dvorakova led the way with a hat trick of three goals, along with recording one assist and seven shots. Meger had a sharp performance of her own with one goal and one assist, followed by Currey who recorded a single goal and Johnson who recorded a single assist.
