CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 14, 2023) – The No. 21 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team returned inside the TMU Soccer Complex on Saturday for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Columbia International University. The Lady Bears maintained great speed through all of regulation, capable of securing the win with a final score of 2-0 and increased their overall record to 10-2-3, 10-0-1 AAC. Â
PLAY-BY-PLAYÂ
Eliska Dvorakova sparked the first half for the Lady Bears with a shot that just missed high, followed by a blocked header from Ella Weir off a corner kick by Nadiia Ivanchenko. Another shot from Dvorakova and a corner kick from TMU set the stage for a Brianna Hernandez to take her shot and steal the lead for the home team (1-0). The Lady Bears stayed sharp for the remainder of the half, making strong substitutions with Isabella Hodson and Berta Lloys hitting the field. TMU increased their lead in the 40th minute after a shot on goal from Hodson deflected off the goalie and offered Lloys the opportunity she needed to find the back of the net (2-0). Â
The Lady Bears could not be stopped on offense in the second half, taking seven consecutive shots from the start, along with taking four more shots to total 24 on the day, 10 on goal. Columbia International was capable of taking two shots of their ow, but the game was ultimately put out of reach as TMU secured the win with a final score of 2-0. Â
LEADERSÂ
Hernandez led the way for TMU with one goal on the day and two shots, while Dvorakova tallied seven shots, two on goal. Lloys recorded one goal of her own, followed by Megan Darden who took three shots, one on goal and Ashley Johnson who took two shots on goal. Â
