COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 24, 2022)- The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor Columbia International University, where the Bears were unable to respond on offense (1-4). TMU falls to a record of 5-2-1, 2-2 AAC, while the Rams rise to 4-1-2, 3-0-1.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first period, the Rams were quick on the board with a goal in the first minute of play (0-1). TMU retaliated with a shot on goal from Nour Alamri, followed by three corner kicks from Alamri. The Rams did not settle, taking three shots before the second goal of the day came in the 24th minute (0-2). In the 35th minute, CIU scored their third goal on a penalty kick, making the score 0-3 going into the half.
In the second period, the Rams final goal of the day came early in the 47th minute (0-4). The Bears responded with a header from Will Fraser-Gray that missed wide, followed by two corner kicks from Alamri. In the 84th minute, Oscar Brennan scored, assisted by Max Farris, ultimately leaving the Bears to fall 1-4.
LEADERS
Most notable, Goalie Daniel Santema had 11 goal saves on the day. Brennan led the way with one shot, one on goal, and one goal. Fraser-Gray followed with two shots, while Alamri had one shot, one on goal.
