DAYTON, Tenn. (September 28, 2022)- The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor Bryan College, where the Bears fought with grit, but resulted in a draw (1-1). TMU rises to a record of 5-2-2, 2-2-1 AAC, while the Lions rise to 2-3-3, 2-0-2 AAC.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first period, the Bears worked hard on defense while the Lions took numerous shots. A corner kick from Nour Alamri set the pace, followed by a shot on goal from Adrian Hoffher. TMU continued to rally with a shot that was wide from Will Fraser-Gray, followed by a shot on goal. A corner kick from Patrick McGrath sent both teams into the half at 1-0.
In the second period, the Bears were seen outshooting the Lions 8-4. A shot by Alamri just missed by hitting the crossbar, followed by Jose Ventura missing high. Back-to-back shots on goal from Ventura and Fraser-Gray set the scene for the Bears lone goal of the day. In the 63rd minute, Fraser-Gray, assisted by Lucan Yates, gave TMU an advantage (1-0). In the final seconds, the Lions retaliated with a goal of their own, leaving the Bears to result in a draw (1-1).
LEADERS
Most notable, Keeper Daniel Santema had nine saves on the day. Fraser-Gray led the way with four shots, three on goal, and one goal. Following, Ventura produced two shots, one on goal, followed by Justin Hicks with two shots.
