CLEVELAND, Ga. (September 21, 2022) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University men's soccer team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Johnson University, where the Bears flew past the Royals, 3-1. TMU rises to a record of 5-1-1, 2-1 AAC, while the Royals fall to 1-4, 0-3 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first period, the Bears outshot the Royals 10-4. A shot from Oscar Brennan and Seth Martinez sparked the Bears momentum. The Bears played stellar offense with a shot on goal from Will Fraser-Gray, followed by four corner kicks from Nour Alamri. In the 44th minute, a goal from Max Farris assisted by Jose Ventura and Alamri put the Bears ahead 1-0 going into the half.
In the second period, the Royals were quick to even the play in the 49th minute with a goal of their own (1-1). TMU retaliated with two shots on goal by Maury Ibarra and Farris to spark the momentum. In the 64th minute, a goal from Seth Martinez, assisted by Farris put the Bears ahead (2-1). In the 77th minute, the final goal came from Farris, assisted by Alamri to give the Bears a 3-1 victory over the Royals.
LEADERS
Farris lead the way with six shots, four on goal, with two goals. Martinez followed with four shots, with one on goal, and one goal. Fraser-Gray tallied four shots, with three on goal.
