CLEVELAND, Ga. (September 17, 2022) -Â The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference foe No. 22 Columbia International University, where the Lady Bears fell in four tough sets (14-25, 32-30, 22-25, 12-25). TMU falls to a record of 8-9, 3-2 AAC, while the Rams improve to 16-6, 6-0 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In set one, a service ace from Rachel Kessler followed by a kill from Ranavia Neal set the pace early. Another ace from Deomi Valmus and a kill from Jordan Roberts create a margin for TMU. A seven-point rally from the Rams, followed by a six-point rally sent the Lady Bears in a whirlwind, where a kill from Katie Williamson was not enough (14-25). In set two, the Rams were first to score and created an early lead. A six-point rally with kills from Sonya Silecky and Leah Bowen, paired with two service aces from Emma Boland closed the deficit. Two consecutive kills from Leah Bowen tied the game, where three consecutive kills from Williams gave TMU the lead. As both teams were back and forth, a kill from Bowen secured a 32-20 victory.
In set three, both teams were neck-and-neck until a six-point rally from the Rams gave them a late lead. Two kills from Silecky, followed by a kill from Bowen closed the gap, whereas another kill from Silecky kept the Lady Bears in it. A late effort from the Rams left TMU behind, 22-25. In the final set, two kills from Bowen, followed by a kill from Neal kept the set alive, until a seven-point rally from the Rams created a large margin. Kills from Roberts, Boland, and Williams were not enough, as the Lady Bears fall short 12-25.
LEADERS
Bowen led the way with 13 kills, followed by Neal with 10. Valmus collected 18 digs on the evening, followed by 15 from Williams and Silecky with 13 of her own. Boland recorded 30 assists, followed by Brooklynn Brock with five.

The Lady Bears remain in the Harris Athletic Complex on Saturday, September 24 for another AAC contest against St. Andrews University. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m.
