COLUMBIA, S.C. (Feb. 3, 2022) - The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to face Columbia International University on Thursday, where the Lady Bears secured a nail-biting win of 67-62. TMU extended their win streak to four and improved to 15-10, 9-4 AAC, while the Rams fell to 9-12, 7-9 AAC.
Most notable, the Lady Bear victory over CIU set a new program record of 15 season wins and 11 conference wins as a four-year institution.Â
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first quarter, both teams were back and forth, with the Rams were first to strike. TMU was quick to recover as they stole the lead with a three point shot from Re'Tavia Floyd. A layup from Jessica Jackson and a jumper from Alysee Dobbs added to the Lady Bears score. A shot from behind the three point arc from Camilla Callihan sent TMU up 14-10. In the second quarter, the Rams were quick to regain the lead, bury no match for the Lady Bears as they increased in momentum with a jumper from Sydney Rumble, a layup from Floyd and a layup from Dobbs. A three pointer from Callihan and a layup from Dobbs gave a two point advantage going into the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Bears were hot out of the gates. A layup from Floyd and Sydnie Smith created a six point deficit. A three pointer from Natalie Nixon and Floyd increased the deficit to 11 points. A jumper from Callihan had the Lady Bears ahead by seven going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, TMU started with a layup from Floyd and a jump shot from Dobbs. The Lady Bears continued to increase the gap, until the final minutes where the Rams struck hard. Two free throws from Smith ultimately sealed the deal, followed by a layup from Floyd to secure a 67-62 win.
LEADERS
 Floyd led the way offensively with 23 points, going 2-2 at the free throw line. Callihan followed with 15 points, going 3-4 from the free throw line and 2-4 behind the three point arc. Dobbs had 10 points, going 5-9 from within the paint, and added two rebounds. Jackson contributed five points, going 2-3 from within the paint. Quan Holton led the way defensively with 13 rebounds and had five points.

The Lady Bears stay on the road as they travel on Tuesday, Feb. 8, to face AAC foe, Brenau University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
