Men's volleyball stumbles at Edward Waters

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (February 24, 2022) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team hit the road for a non-conference matchup against Edward Waters University. The Bears fell short 12-25, 14-25, 14-25 and are now sitting at an overall record of 0-8, while the Tigers rose to an overall record of 2-11.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first set, the Tigers took a quick lead over the Bears, but a kill from Ryan Stokes started to spark the momentum. A two-point rally closed the gap between TMU and the Tigers, but the Tigers were persistent and continued to rally. A kill from Jackson Adams, followed by a kill from Nathan Hill helped the Bears to rally. Another kill from Hill, followed by a service ace were not enough, leaving the Bears to fall 12-25. In the second set, TMU saw a kill from Owen Nobles early on, followed by a kill from Stokes. A kill from Adams cut the Tigers deficit, but a late rally from the Tigers gave them a large advantage. A six-point rally from the Bears included a kill from Kaleb Mitchell, Hill and a service ace from Stokes. TMU fell just short, 14-25. In the final set, the Bears were first to score, but the Tigers quickly responded with a six-point rally. A kill from Hill brought TMU within three points, followed by a kill from Mitchell. Kills from Wensky Santilmond, Adams and Stokes were the last points the Bears would score, leaving them to fall 14-25.
LEADERS
Adams led the way with four kills and five digs on the day, followed by Hill with four kills and one service ace. Stokes contributed three kills and also had a service ace. Jakob Lee had three digs on the day as well.
UP NEXT
The Bears travel to Babson Park, Fla. on Thursday, Feb. 24 to face MSC opponent, Webber International University. Match time set for 7:00 p.m.
