CLEVELAND, Ga. (Feb. 14, 2022) - On Monday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team faced Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Reinhardt University. The Lady Bears battled hard but were unable to keep up with the Eagles, coming up short 82-49. TMU fell to a record of 16-12, 12-10 AAC, while the Eagles improved to 13-13, 12-9 AAC.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first quarter, the Eagles offense was first to score, while the Lady Bears responded with a three-point shot from Ra'Tavia Floyd. TMU struggled to respond throughout the first half, but gained momentum towards the end of the second quarter, lessening the deficit with a three pointer by Jessica Jackson, assisted by Sydney Rumble (13-30). Camilla Callihan scored TMU's final points of the half with a layup in the paint pushing the score to (20-45).
The Lady Bears continued to battle, while the Eagles remained persistent. TMU responded with a Quan Holton layup off a fast break (25-54), followed by a Kacie Williams shot in the paint. RU was not shaken as they continued to dominate offensively, resulting in the Lady Bears suffering an 82-49 loss.
LEADERS
Callihan led the way with 18 points, while Floyd had 10 points. Sydnie Smith had five points, three steals and two assists, followed by Holton who had five point with two steal and Jackson who had five points.
