CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 12, 2022) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnel University wrestling team matched up with Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor, Bluefield University, for their senior day and final home match of the season. The Bears did not hold back as they secured a big 44-0 victory over the Rams.

Most notable, senior Ian James led the Bears with a first period pin in the 174-weight class (1:12), while freshman Will Parker earned a first period pin at the 184-weight class (1:10). Freshman Matthew Johnson recorded a major decision win (21-7) in the 141-weight class, after dominating offensively all seven minutes. Junior Mitchell Thompson had a decision win in the 165-weight class, with a final score of 10-6, while Brandon Navixay battled at 125 to secure a 5-4 victory over the Rams. Junior Nolan Cook rounded out TMU's results with a hard-fought decision win at the 197-weight class (7-6).

Up next, the Bears will travel to compete in the AAC Tournament, hosted by Reinhardt University, on Friday, Feb. 18.
