MONTREAT, N.C. (December 10, 2022) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University wrestling team traveled to compete in a tri-match, hosted by Montreat College, where the Bears went 1-1 on the day. TMU secured their first team victory of the season over West Virginia Tech with a score of 40-17, but the Bears were unable to carry the momentum into their second match as they fell 14-32 to the Cavaliers.

Most notable, senior Hans Evatt led the way for the Bears with two individual victories, starting with a big pin over WVU (Fall 1:01). Evatt continued to gain speed by stealing a decision win over Montreat with a final score of 6-4. Freshman Tyler Crow followed up with a major decision win over WVU (MD 15-1), while senior Ian James battled with Montreat to earn a technical fall in the second period (19-3, 3:30). Freshman Phillip Terrell rounded out the results for TMU with a pin in the first period (Fall 1:49).
