TMU collects two wins on road trip

LAURINBURG, N.C. (October 8, 2022) - The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to Appalchian Athletic Conference opponent St. Andrews University for a tri-match, where the Lady Bears secured two wins on the day. TMU rises to 12-12, 6-5 AAC.

MATCH 1 | St. Andrews University

In the first set, a kill from Katie Williamson, followed by a three-point rally, gave the Lady Bears an early advantage. The Knights had a three-point rally of their own to secure the lead. A kill from Ranavia Neal and Williams kept TMU within margin. A late four-point rally from the Knights left TMU to fall 18-25. In set two, the Lady Bears struck first with a kill from Neal. Both teams were neck-and-neck until a five-point rally with kills from Leah Bowen, Williams, Neal, and Brooklynn Brock secured the lead. A late four-point rally with two service aces and a kill from Bowen gave TMU set two (25-17).

In the third set, an early three-point rally included a service ace from Deomi Valmus and a kill from Jordan Roberts gave TMU an early lead. The Knights did not settle and tied the set with a three-point rally. Both teams battled hard until a Lady Bears rally regained the lead. A late three-point rally with two kills from Williams concluded set three (25-23). In the final set, a kill from Neal sparked the momentum. A four-point rally with kills from Neal and Katie Williamson created a deficit. Kills from Brock and Williams increased the deficit, followed by a kill from Roberts to secure a 25-20 victory over the Knights.

LEADERS

Williams led the way with 15 kills, followed by Neal with 14 and Bowen with 13 of her own. Valmus recorded 14 digs on the evening, while Emma Boland tallied nine, with Rachel Kessler having eight of her own. Boland had 26 assists, followed by Brock with 22.
