(October 11, 2022) -Â The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Point University, where the Lady Bears swept the Skyhawks for the second time this season (25-21, 25-23, 27-25). TMU rises to 13-12, 7-5 AAC, while the Skyhawks fall to 9-11, 6-7 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first set, the Skyhawks were first to score and had a four-point rally for an early lead. Kills from Jordan Roberts and Leah Bowen sparked the momentum, where a three-point rally for the Lady Bears closed the deficit. An eight-point rally with two kills from Roberts and Sonya Silecky created a large margin. Two consecutive kills from Katie Williams secured set one, 25-21. In set two, the Skyhawks struck early again with a five-point rally. A kill from Ranavia Neal and Silecky kept TMU in play, where kills from Bowen and Brooklynn Brock captured the lead. Both teams were neck-and-neck until a four-point rally with a kill from Silecky increased the Lady Bears lead. A late four-point rally with a kill from Williams gave TMU set two (25-23).
In set three, two kills from Silecky started the Lady Bears momentum. Kills from Williams and two kills from Roberts kept TMU ahead. A three-point rally with two kills from Williams created a large deficit, but the Skyhawks persevered and came within a point after a six-point rally. Both teams were fighting to the end, until a kill from Roberts, followed by a kill from Williams secured a 27-25 sweep over the Skyhawks.
LEADERS
Williams led the way with 16 kills, followed by Roberts with nine, while Neal and Silecky had six apiece. Deomi Valmus recorded 19 digs on the evening, followed by Silecky with 16, and Emma Boland with 13 of her own. Brock tallied 34 assists on the evening.
