ATHENS, Tenn. (October 8, 2022)- The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Tennessee Wesleyan University, where the Bears fell short, 0-2. TMU falls to a record of 6-4-2, 3-4-1 AAC, while the Bulldogs rise to 6-1-5, 5-1-2 AAC.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first period, the Bears were seen working hard on defense while being outshot 7-2. In the 14th minute, TMU had a corner kick from Nour Alamri, followed by a second corner kick in the 25th minute. Hendrik Metje had the first shot of the day that missed just wide, followed by a blocked shot from Marco Vernazza to keep the score 0-0 going into the half.
In the second period, the Bulldogs scored their first goal of the day in the 53rd minute (0-1). In the 68th minute, the Bulldogs final goal of the day was scored, leaving the Bears to fall 0-2.
LEADERS
Most notable, Keeper Daniel Santema recorded four saves on the day. Metje and Vernazza led the way with two shots on the day, followed by Adrian Hoffher with one shot.
