CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 15, 2022)- The Truett McConnell University women's soccer team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference member Union College, where the Lady Bears outshot the Bulldogs 32-2 to secure a 5-0 victory. TMU rises to a record of 10-2-1, 9-0 AAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-9-0, 2-9 AAC.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first period, the Lady Bears were hot out of the gates with their first goal of the day when a ball from the corner by Nadiia Ivanchenko found the foot of Lauren Bergevine, in the first three minutes of play (1-0). With a quick turnaround, Kayla Boggess, assisted by Sydney League, scored the second goal for the Lady Bears (2-0). TMU continued to take 16 shots in the first period, along with a sharp defense to give them a 2-0 advantage going into the half.
In the second period, Julia Ruiz, assisted by Lindsey Fowler, scored goal number three in the 49th minute. With an aggressive offense, Kendra Wilbert, assisted by Ashley Johnson, recorded goal number four (4-0). The Lady Bears continued with their momentum, seeing Sarah Currey, assisted by Wilbert, score the final goal of the afternoon to give TMU a 5-0 victory.
LEADERS
Bergevine led the way with four shots, three on goal, and one goal. Wilbert, Ruiz, Currey, and Boggess all recorded one shot, one on goal, and one goal on the afternoon. League, Ivanchenko, Fowler, Johnson, and Wilbert recorded an assist apiece.
