Women's basketball falls in hard-fought battle against Milligan

CLEVELAND, Ga. (January 22, 2022) - On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team faced Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor, Milligan University, where the Lady Bears battled all four quarters, ultimately falling to a final score of 74-60. Milligan improved to a record of 12-6, 12-1 AAC, while TMU fell to a record of 11-10, 7-8 AAC. 

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, Milligan took a strong run to steal the lead (4-12), leaving the Lady Bears down by eight going into the second quarter (13-21). TMU did not give in as they chipped away at the Buffs lead, reducing the gap to one after a Ra'Tavia Floyd three-pointer (33-32). Milligan remained ahead at halftime (32-39) and carried the lead into the third quarter, while the Lady Bears continued to band together to stay in the game (40-57). The fourth and final quarter saw TMU with a nine point run, featuring five good Quan Holton free throws, a Holton shot in the paint and a Kacie Williams shot in the paint (54-67). A final shot from Camilla Callihan proved not enough as the Lady Bears fell to a score of 60-74.

LEADERS
Callihan led the way with 11 points, while Jackson followed with 10 points, two blocks, four rebounds and went 2-3 at the three-point arc. Holton recorded 10 points, six rebounds and went 5-6 at the free-throw line. Floyd had eight points, K. Williams had six points and Sydney Rumble had five points and went 3-4 at the free-throw line.

The Lady Bears are back inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 26, where they will face Tennessee Wesleyan University, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m.
