DAYTON, Tenn. (January 20, 2022) - The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, No. 15 Bryan College, where the Lady Bears fell to a final score of 100-52. The Lions extended their perfect record to18-0, 13-0 AAC, while TMU fell to a record of 11-9, 7-7 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first quarter saw the Lady Bears first to hit the board with a good shot behind the three point arc by Sydney Rumble, followed by a shot in the paint from Jessica Jackson (5-2). Bryan responded, capable of evening the score (14-14). TMU took back the lead after a Quan Holton three-pointer, but the Lions gained speed to steal the lead going into the second quarter (21-22). Camilla Callihan helped the Lady Bears bridge the gap with a shot behind the three-point arc (24-24), while a three-pointer by Natalie Nixon helped keep the lead in range (27-29). The Lions forced TMU to work under pressure, securing the advantage with a score of 33-47 at the half. The third and fourth quarter saw a resilient home team, as the game was ultimately clinched by the Lions with a final score of 52-100.
LEADERS
Alysee Dobbs led the way for the Lady Bears with 12 points and five rebounds, while Callihan had 10 points with five rebounds, five assists and went 3-4 at the free throw line. Rumble recorded eight points, Floyd recorded seven points and two assists and Nixon recorded six points with six rebounds. Sydnie Smith followed up with two points, five rebounds and two assists.
